Mortal Kombat, commonly abbreviated MK, is a science fantasy series of fighting games created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. The first four renditions and their updates were developed by Midway Games and initially released on arcade machines. The arcade titles were later picked up by Acclaim Entertainment for the home console conversions.


Beginning with Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Midway Games exclusively created home versions of Mortal Kombat up until Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.



Following Midway's bankruptcy, the franchise was picked up by Warner Bros. in July 2009 and became a part of the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Branch.

The series began originally as a game based on the popular actor martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme. The idea fell through and Mortal Kombat was born instead. As a result of its success, Mortal Kombat has spawned many sequels and has been spun off into several adventure games, films (animated and live-action with its own sequel), and television series (animated and live-action). Other spin-offs include various comic book series, a card game and a live-action tour.

The original three games and their updates, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, and Mortal Kombat Trilogy, were styled in a 2-D fighting fashion with gameplay consisting of five buttons that were high punch, low punch, high kick, low kick, and block. Reviewers have stated that because of this the characters are only differentiated by their special moves. In fact, some reviewers have criticized that the "bewildering array" of special moves in comparison to other fighting games has resulted in too little focus on regular moves.

Crazy Taxi is a sandbox racing video game developed by Hitmaker (Sega AM3) and published by Sega.






One of the more popular -- and certainly more creative -- racing titles to hit the arcades during 1999 is Crazy Taxi, an offbeat game wherein the goal is to take various passengers to their destinations as fast as possible.

The gameplay is open-ended: you decide who you want to pick up based on the waiting passengers' fare levels, which are indicated by differently colored dollar signs over their heads.

7 Wonders II - Free download

It takes over 400 years to build seven wonders plus one surprise wonder, but of course time isn't to scale when playing 7 Wonders II. The sequel to 7 Wonders of the Ancient World explores all new wonders including Stonehenge, The Colosseum, Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, Shwedagon Pagoda, Angkor Wat, the statues on Easter Island and one secret wonder which you won't find until you've put together seven pieces of a map you find at the other locations.

The runes get a makeover from the original 7 Wonders of the Ancient World's shiny runes to the newer more stone-styled runes with etching that clearly depicts an object. Each rune is associated with a wonder, so making matches with the rune while building its wonder speeds its construction. A selected rune does a little spin as it awaits its next move, adding to the game's character. The tutorial does its job well in orienting a player to the game's rules and controls.


7 Wonders II's visuals are hardly original, but they are charming. As you proceed to move around gems on the bottom screen, characters run around on top, so you're not just looking at a static wallpaper. The music is pretty good too, though hardly original. Hey, I'll take familiar, comfortable tunes over grating elevator-muzak style mush any day.

 It's the best of both worlds as the greatest superheroes of the Marvel Universe square off against the experienced warriors of Capcom's fighting and adventure games. Some of the lesser-known characters from both franchises make special appearances.

It's pretty funny when Arthur from the old game Ghosts N' Goblins jumps onscreen to throw lances at Captain America. Each of the battles is a two-on-two tag-team match. Players can swap characters in the middle of a fight, and clever players quickly discover how to launch devastating double-team attacks on the opponent. Up to four people can play.
